A Style All Your Own

What does it mean when we say that someone has a style all their own. Does it mean she's quirky? Intellectual? Fun loving? Ambitious? Can we tell these things when we first meet someone? Yep. We can. For a lot of reasons. We can see the fiery, fun-loving spirit in the glint of someone's eye even as we cross the street. We can catch the edge of determination and drive to succeed just by how someone walks in a room and the proud way they set their jaw or even by their posture.
But the final piece to the personal style puzzle is definitely the clothes you wear. A purple, suede-fringed sundress speaks volumes about its owner -- ditto for a white collared blouse and slimming black dress pants. These set the tone for someone's day, for their activities, and for whom they will share their time with.
Like any good actor in a play, our wardrobe literally sets the stage for our lives. And like any good performer in the show, we can literally change our mood and our character by switching what we've got on. Feeling low? Get out of your blacks and leave your blues behind -- just by putting on a bright silk blouse or your favorite red cowboy hat! You'll cheer yourself on all day long, and the reactions of people around you will raise your mood and leave you wondering what had you down in the first place!
The bottom line is that your style is yours. And you can use it to your advantage in a thousand ways. For instance, instead of letting your personality dictate your wardrobe, try to enjoy the flip side of that equation. Let your wardrobe inspire your personality! Go shopping! Buy a few out-of-character plus size pieces!
Then be daring. You may know that you feel most comfortable in sweats and T-shirts -- but no one else has to! Dress it up -- or dress it down.
Definitely try a few new looks just for the fun of it -- just to see how they make you feel. Why not? After all, it's a style all your own.
